Glen Rock After-School Robotics Registration
December 18, 2025
Registration for 2026 after-school programs is now open for Glen Rock!
Brain Eating Machines empowers 4th-8th graders to build, code, and develop robotics skills using LEGO® Spike Prime educational kits. Our curriculum prepares students for competitive robotics opportunities.
We conduct in-person after-school programs in Bergen County, including Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Ho-Ho-Kus, Fair Lawn, Paramus, and neighboring towns.
As robots perform surgery, drive cars, and AI assistants manage our homes, understanding robotics is essential literacy; like learning geography without becoming a sailor or biology without becoming a doctor. Students who grasp how sensors, algorithms, and machines work become informed citizens who can shape technology's future rather than simply being shaped by it.
Our robotics curriculum combines hands-on robot design, programming, and innovation projects. Students develop technical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and collaborative teamwork through structured learning and competitive challenges.
Design, build, and program LEGO robots to complete missions on a themed playing field. Learn mechanical engineering and creative problem-solving.
Write programs using block-based coding to control your robot's sensors and motors. Develop computational thinking and logical reasoning skills.
Work as a team to prepare for regional and state competitions. Build collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
We offer three pathways to explore robotics: start with foundational skills, compete with your team, or advance to professional-level robotics. Choose the program that fits your schedule and interests!
Start your robotics journey! Learn to build, code, and program robots using LEGO® SPIKE Prime. Build the foundational skills to tackle competitive robotics (FLL) challenges or simply explore STEM through hands-on learning. Same great curriculum, two convenient time options to fit your schedule.
Perfect for families who want a gradual, semester-long learning experience with weekly sessions.
Dive deep during summer break! Same curriculum delivered in an intensive 2-week format for focused learning.
Both time options cover the same comprehensive curriculum
Robot assembly, basic programming, and precise movement control
Distance and color sensors, autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance
Multi-sensor programming, complex challenges, final showcase project
Join a team and compete! Design, build, and program robots to solve real-world challenges. Prepare for regional and state tournaments while building teamwork, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
LEGO® robotics kit (SPIKE Prime) included
90-minute team sessions with expert coaching
Entry fees, team materials, and tournament preparation included
Ready to level up? Transition from block-based coding to real programming languages like C++ and Python. Learn electronics, 3D design, and build robots from scratch—just like the pros!
Week 1: Electronics & Microcontrollers
Arduino, Raspberry Pi Pico, circuits, C++ and Python basics
Week 2: Motors & Robot Movement
Motor types, control circuits, autonomous navigation
Week 3: CAD Design & 3D Printing
Tinkercad, Onshape, design custom robot parts
Week 4: Integration & Final Challenge
Build complete robots, compete, present designs
Arduino, Raspberry Pi Pico, 3D printers, CAD software
Learn C++ and Python (not block-based)
Design, build, and program robots from scratch
Our programs build progressively, preparing students for the next level while standing alone as valuable STEM education.
GRADES 4-8
Learn block-based programming, sensors, and basic robotics
GRADES 8-9
Transition to text-based coding, electronics, and CAD design
GRADES 9-12
Apply skills in competitive robotics programs
